Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Salmon Patties Recipe

These homemade salmon patties, made with pantry staples, are crispy and tender. They’re perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal.

  • Total Time: 25 MIN
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Two cans (6 oz each) of salmon, drained and flaked

One large egg, beaten

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

Two tablespoons finely chopped onion

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried dill (optional)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients (except oil) in a large bowl.
  2. Form the mixture into 2-3 inch wide patties.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Gluten-free version: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed crackers.
  • Substitute fresh herbs (parsley, chives) for dried dill.
  • Don’t overmix.
  • Chilling patties before frying can help them hold together.
  • Test oil temperature before frying.
  • Drain excess oil after frying.
